Jason Berger graduated law school with a Juris Doctorate (J.D.) degree from the University of Ottawa in the Nation’s capital. After passing the bar exams, Jason completed his articles and subsequently worked as the trusted go-to associate lawyer for a top tax lawyer in the Greater Toronto Area where he spent several years learning the intricacies of the Canadian tax laws. During his time at this law firm, Jason engaged in complex tax planning and sophisticated corporate reorganizations, dealing with high net worth individuals and completing large and complicated corporate and business transactions.
In early 2016, despite a job offer from a large national accounting firm to work as a tax specialist and another opportunity to work for a “big 4” accounting firm in the high net worth department, Jason listened to his entrepreneurial inner voice and fulfilled his dream by founding Berger Law. Jason works tirelessly to establish Berger Law as a trusted legal source for business owners to ensure compliance with laws, to draft airtight agreements to protect his clients, and to make sure to minimize tax so that business owners are left with as much of their hard-earned profits as possible. To that end, Jason has developed proprietary tax plans that, in one case, saved a client in excess of $1 million on a single transaction via a restructuring of the client’s company.
Jason’s creative and unique ability to weave practical advice with sound legal and tax advice makes him a dynamic legal and business advisor that people can entrust with the businesses that they have worked hard to establish and grow. Jason enjoys becoming a partner with his clients and sharing the vision they see for their businesses.
Despite working hard for his clients, Jason makes sure to spend quality time with his wife and children every day. Although he has not needed to use his black belt in karate in a long time, Jason makes sure to teach his son self-defense and how to make it to the high school basketball team.
